Intent: Extend the life cycle of existing building stock, conserve resources, retain cultural resources, reduce waste, and reduce environmental impacts of new buildings as they relate to materials in manufacturing and transport. MR Credit 1.3 Maintain 50% of Non-Structural Elements

Requirements: Use existing interior non-structural elements (interior walls, doors, floor coverings and ceiling systems) in at least 50% (by area) of the completed building (including additions). If the project includes an addition to an existing building, this credit is not applicable if the square footage of the addition is more than 2 times the square footage of the existing building.

Contribution: RE-INSTALLATION: The Stanza Wall System is a highly re-useable wall system that easily contributes to this credit in a re-installation application - even if the Stanza walls need to be moved. With relative ease and greatly reduced cost (as compared to constructing a new wall), over 90% of the wall system can be un-installed and re-installed into a different location in the building.

MR Credit 2.1 and 2.2
Construction Waste Management (Divert 50% and 75% from landfill)

Intent: Divert construction and demolition debris from disposal in landfills and incinerators. Redirect recyclable recovered resources back to the manufacturing process. Redirect reusable materials to appropriate sites. MR Credit 2.1 and 2.2 Construction Waste Management (Divert 50% and 75% from landfill)

Requirements: Recycle and/or salvage at least 50% or 75% of non-hazardous construction and demolition. Develop and implement a construction waste management plan that, at a minimum, identifies the materials to be diverted from disposal and whether the materials will be sorted on-site or co-mingled. Excavated soil and land-clearing debris does not contribute to this credit. Calculations can be done by weight or volume, but must be consistent throughout.

Contribution: NEW INSTALLATION: Deco Technologies Stanza Wall System contains a very high percentage of recycled and recyclable contents. 88% (equal to 132 pounds) of a typical 24" wall section is recyclable.
RE-INSTALLATION: The modular and re-usable nature of the Stanza Wall System allow very little destruction and waste when the product is removed. The parts that are removed are highly recyclable adding to this credit.

MR Credit 4.1 and 4.2 Recycled Content 10%
(post-consumer +1/2 pre-consumer)

Intent: Increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials. MR Credit 4.1 and 4.2 Recycled Content 10% (post-consumer +1/2 pre-consumer)

Requirements: Use materials with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% or 20% (based on cost) of the total value of the materials in the project. The recycled content value of a material assembly shall be determined by weight. The recycled fraction of the assembly is then multiplied by the cost of assembly to determine the recycled content value. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing components and specialty items such as elevators shall not be included in this calculation. Only include materials permanently installed in the project. Furniture may be included, providing it is included consistently in MR Credits 3-7. Recycled content shall be defined in accordance with ISO 14012 - Environmental labels and declarations - Self-declared environmental claims.

Contribution: NEW INSTALLATION: The Stanza Wall System contains 88% post-consumer recycled materials. This extremely high recycled content value equals 88% of the dollar value of the wall system. For every $100 you spend on the actual wall system (not including installation costs) the recycled content value is $88. This is a major contributor to this recycled content credit.

MR Credit 5.1 and 5.2
Regional Materials 10% or 20% Extracted, Processed, & Manufactured Regionally

MR Credit 5.1document

Intent: Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation. MR Credit 5.1 and 5.2 Regional Materials 10% or 20% Extracted, Processed, & Manufactured Regionally

Requirements: Use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested, or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% or 20% (based on cost) of the total materials value. If only a fraction of a product or material is extracted/harvested/recovered and manufactured locally, then only that percentage (by weight) shall contribute to the regional value. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing components and specialty items such as elevators and equipment shall not be included in this calculation. Only include materials permanently installed in the project. Furniture may be included, providing it is included consistently in MR Credits 3-7.

Contribution: NEW INSTALLATION: 47% of the weight of the Stanza Wall System is recovered, processed, and manufactured in Grand Rapids, MI. 53% of the weight is recovered, processed, and manufactured in Chicago, IL. Locations within 500 miles ("as the crow flies") of Grand Rapids, MI can apply 47% of the dollar value of the Stanza system toward this credit, while locations within 500 miles of Chicago, IL can apply 53% of the dollar value of the Stanza system to this credit. Locations with 500 miles of both Grand Rapids and Chicago can apply 100% of the dollar value of the Stanza system toward achieving this credit.
